.IR reaches 100,000
The ccTLD of Republic of Iran reached the six digit plateau with the registration of 100,000th .ir domain on 20 October 2008.
Between 1994 and December 2003, when new liberalized registration rules took effect, only some 2000 domains had been registered under this domain.
In less than 5 years the number has increased fifty-fold to 100,000. In the four-year span 2004-2007 .ir has had the 4th highest growth rate among the 60 largest ccTLDs.
