LatinoamerICANN published its monthly report with domain name statistics in Latin America for September 2008.
One of the main points is that the region at last exceeded the amount of 4,000,000 domain names delegated and it represents a growth of 17,87% from the beginning of the year.
The leader TLD is Argentina (.AR) followed by Brazil (.BR), Mexico (.MX) and Chile (.CL).
According to Latin America domain name statistics Argentina has 1,7 million domain name registrations, Brazil 1,4 million, Mexico 0.28 million and Chile 0.22 million. In addition to that, there are a total of 1,7 million .com and .net domain name registrations in Latin America.
Also Peru (.PE) and Costa Rica (.CR) have done a remarkable contribution in this Latin American milestone of 4.000.000 domain names.
During September 2008 the TLD’s that presented the greatest growth were Venezuela (7,75%), Granada (7,14%) and Ecuador (5,50%).
Venezuela (.VE) has shown a great growth during the past three months and it is an important achievement for this country.
